New York New Jersey Stadium - The 2026 FIFA World Cup Final Version
(MetLife Stadium)
East Rutherford, New Jersey
This mixed-media model of New York New Jersey Stadium commemorates the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final between Spain and Argentina, while celebrating the larger spirit of the World Cup: individuality, diversity, competition, and unity.
Surrounding the stadium are 48 individually hand-painted hexagons, each representing a jersey worn by one of the 48 countries that participated in the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament. Each jersey carries its own colors, patterns, and identity, reflecting the culture of its country. Together, they symbolize how the World Cup creates a shared global experience where difference is celebrated, connection is created, and the world comes together through the universal language of sport.
I added in my own love for beadwork because it is a medium that I associate with beauty, ornamentation, and celebration. Each piece was individually strewn by hand to match the jersey colors for that country. Together, they transform the stadium into a celebration of the event, the fans, and the collective excitement from when the world came together for one of the largest sporting events on Earth.
